Canadian Future Party Announces Candidate for University-Rosedale

TORONTO- March 26th- The Canadian Future Party (CFP) today announced Samuel Baxter will be its candidate in University-Rosedale for the federal by-election scheduled for April 13, 2026. Baxter was chosen for his community roots, civic engagement, and commitment to the CFP’s founding principles: courage, competence, and evidence-based governance.

"Samuel represents what the Canadian Future Party is building, someone who has spent his life solving real problems for real Canadians”, says Dominic Cardy, former New Brunswick cabinet minister and Leader of the CFP. “We’re here to change the debate. We’re a young party and we’re building deliberately, riding by riding, concentrating our energy where we can make the biggest difference to the debate.”

"Travelling through Europe and Asia, I was reminded again and again of what Canada means to the world,” says Samuel Baxter. “Not a superpower in the traditional sense of flaunting wealth or military posturing, but rather a country and people that are trusted, admired, and genuinely liked. I grew up attending Clinton and King Edward schools in this riding, and I believe University-Rosedale understands that instinctively. The Canadian Future Party's vision, a Northern Democratic Superpower built on evidence, competence, and democratic values is not an abstraction to me. Every trip, country, and conversation showed how happy people were to meet a Canadian.  I am running because I believe we can do more than protect our reputation, we can build on it, and lead.”

About Samuel Baxter

Samuel Baxter is a solo practicing lawyer based in the Greater Toronto Area and founder of Baxter Law, specializing in residential real estate, wills and estates, and notary services. He is known for clear-headed counsel on decisions that matter most to families.

New to electoral politics but deeply engaged in public affairs, Samuel was moved to run by the threat to Canadian sovereignty posed by U.S. trade aggression. He is drawn to the CFP’s centrist vision and its refusal to traffic in the partisan divisions that have held Canada back.

About the Canadian Future Party

The Canadian Future Party was founded at its November 2024 convention and officially launched its national platform in April 2025. The CFP offers Canadians a principled, pragmatic alternative to the old political choices, built on truth, unity, and evidence-based governance.

The CFP platform charts a path to a fully sovereign, fiscally responsible, proud, confident Canada, governed with the courage and competence Canadians deserve. The party is targeting 2028 to field candidates in key ridings across the country.
