Leader Cardy to run in Fredericton-Oromocto

FREDERICTON – Dominic Cardy today announced he will be seeking a seat for the Canadian Future Party in Fredericton-Oromocto, part of a riding he previously represented for six years as an MLA and in which he has deep roots. Cardy will kick off his candidacy with a special event on Monday, April 7th at the Centre Communautaire Sainte Anne at 7:00 PM AST.

“It’s significant to me that I’m announcing my candidacy at the Centre Communautaire Sainte Anne,” says Dominic Cardy Leader of the CFP. “There is no better place to start my work in federal politics. The Centre Communautaire, a testament to how New Brunswickers and Canadians can respect and value each other’s culture, and heritage, within a shared framework of democracy, opportunity, and the rule of law.”

Cardy enters the race with the experience to represent his community in Ottawa. A lifelong humanitarian, advocate and politician, he has held multiple government and party roles, including as a former Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, where he won broad cross-partisan support for improvements on the provincial education system, like making New Brunswick the first province to introduce structured literacy – a science-based approach that has led to radical improvements in literacy scores in every state or country it’s been used. He doesn’t hesitate to take firm stands when the evidence shows that evidence needs a champion – and equally to apologize when he makes mistakes. As the leader of the Canadian Future Party, he is ready to prepare Canada to confront our country’s greatest challenges.

“We don’t live in the same world we did a few years ago – or even a few months ago,” says Cardy. “We have brave members of our armed forces across the country, including right here in this riding at Base Gagetown, but they don’t have the tools they need to do their job. While the Liberals and Conservatives had to be dragged kicking and screaming to commit to a ten-year-old promise to spend two per cent of our GDP on defense funding, the Canadian Future Party recognizes the imminent danger and severity of a democratic world under siege. We pledge 2.25% this year, and to move in concert with our allies towards five per cent of GDP needed to transform Canada into a northern democratic superpower.”

The Canadian Future Party offers voters fresh, no-nonsense and evidence-based solutions developed by and for Canadians, to defend the country’s independence, to make life better and more affordable, and to build the country into the world’s northern democratic superpower.
